Tape, nylon: The tape for slide fastener thongs shall be flat 3/8 inch wide nylon tape
conforming to Type III of MIL-DTL-5038

Elastic Cord:

The elastic cord shall be 1/8 inch width (+1/32; -0 inch), elastic cord,
elongation:120% +/- 10%; weight per linear yard, 0.2 ounces minimum; pick per inch, 60
minimum; number of carriers 16 minimum; ends per carrier, 1; number of elastic strands, 12 minimum; cover yarn, polyester. MIL-SPEC cord used on GEN III Extreme Cold/Wet weather system.

Eyelet The eyelets on the inner layer of the hem of the front panels shall be in accordance with NASM 20652, 1B, dash No. ABE-122.

Cannon Clip & Barrel Lock:

The cannon clip MIL-SPEC used on GEN III Extreme Cold/Wet weather System. The Barrel lock shall maintain a 3-pound minimum holding strength on the elastic draw cord
(see 3.6.3) at (-40)°F, (70)°F and (140)°F when tested in accordance with 4.8.13. The barrel locks shall be ½-inch by 3/8-inch elliptical or 3/8-inch round shape, minimum push-button size. MIL-SPEC used on GEN III Extreme Cold/Wet weather System.

Pocket Slide Fastener:

The slide fastener shall be continuous element chain No. 5 reverse chain with 175 lbs minimum crosswise strength with water repellent treated tape. Pull must accommodate a 3/8” wide thong. Reverse chain is when zipper tape side and slider pull represents the face.

Front Slide Fastener:

The front closure shall be plastic individual element, A-A-55634, Type III, Style 13 (separating double auto-lock sliders such that open either from top or bottom), No. 5
chain with a 100 lbs. minimum crosswise strength with a water repellent treated slide fastener tape. Top pull must be able to accommodate a 3/8” wide thong.

Threads:

Polyester, Tex size 45-50 (Government size B), 2 or 3 ply, conforming to Type I,
Class 1, Subclass B of A-A-59963, or size Tex size 45-50, 2 or 3 ply polyester core thread
conforming to A-A-50199. All threads shall be water-repellent treated as specified in MIL-T-3530.
